SUN SMART POLICY

Our Sun Smart Policy has been developed in line with recommendations from the Anti-Cancer Council of Victoria. As part of our general Sun Smart strategies, our school will have a ‘no school hat’, ‘no play’ policy.

Children must wear hats at all times from February to April and from September to December whenever they are outside, including after school when waiting to be picked up.

Children are encouraged to use maximum protection sunscreen and use shaded areas for play.
Staff act as positive role models in the implementation of this policy.

Positive SunSmart behaviours are encouraged through our Integrated Curriculum, and regularly reinforced through newsletters, assemblies, parent meetings and student and teacher activities.

Children without hats will be directed to sit quietly in a designated shady area during playtime.

Our school is fully air-conditioned, however parents may exercise their own judgement about sending their children to school on excessively hot days
